I love pancake & now I feel like eating it!! Since there’s no pancake here at home, let’s blog about it instead!! Before that, do feast your eye on the picture below! NICE & TEMPTING!!
WHAT IS ‘PANCAKE’
A pancake is a thin, flat, round cake prepared from batter, and cooked on a hot griddle or frying pan. Depending on the regions, pancakes may be served at any time of the day, with a variety of toppings such as jams, maple syrup, honey, chocolate syrup, chocolate chip, ice-cream, etc. … yummmmyyyy!!!
REGIONAL VARIETIES : DIFFERENT NAMES & TYPES OF PANCAKE
France : Crepes (Thin pancake usually served with sweet or savory filling)
Germany : Pfannkuchen, Kaiserschmarrn (A light, caramelized pancake that is split into pieces, filled with fruit and/or nuts, sprinkled with powdered sugar and served with a fruit sauce)
The Netherlands : Poffertjes, Pannenkoeken (usually eaten during dinner, it is slightly ticker than crepes and usually quite large. Filling can include sliced apple, cheese, ham, bacon, candied ginger, etc.)
Sweden : Scandinavian pancake, Pannkakor, Raggmunk, Aggakaka (also called eggcake, which is a lot thicker & difficult to make due to the risk of burning it)
Finland : Letty, Raiskale, Ohukainen, Lettu (usually eaten with whipped cream and/or jam)
Hungary – Palacsinta
India : Pooda, Dosa, Appam, Neer Dosa, Uttapam
Malaysia – Apam Balik (can be thin, thick, crispy, etc. Can get it at most ‘pasar malam’ @ night market. How do i know this? Because I AM MALAYSIAN!
)
Actually there are more varieties of pancake, but can’t be writing about ALL of it so i will stop here for now!
